Japan's CCS, which is engaged in LED lighting equipment, has developed a white LED illuminator for a solid microscope with an average color rendering index of 98. The solid-state microscope was developed using the "natural light LED" jointly developed with the Distinguished Professor of the Department of Science and Engineering, Yamaguchi University. Originally, the illumination of a stereo microscope mainly used fluorescent lamps and halogen lamps. In addition to accurately observing the primary color of the biological sample, the white LED lamp can be observed without damaging the observed object because the LED does not contain infrared rays.
The brightness of the LED lamp is about 50,000 lx, the power consumption is less than 1/10 of the halogen lamp, it is 4.4W, and the life is more than 20 times that of the halogen lamp, up to 40,000 hours. It is scheduled to go into production in the autumn of 2008.
In addition, the LED light was exhibited at the 7th International Bio-EXPO held at the Tokyo International Convention and Exhibition Center from July 2nd to 4th, 2008.
