Foreign research and development will increase OLED light efficiency to 90lm/W

Dresden technical university and valence supplier Novaled jointly announced the successful OLED luminous efficiency to 90lm/W, breaking the luminous efficiency of fluorescent tubes 50~70lm/W.

The brightness of 90lm/W OLED is 1,000cd per square meter (the brightness of a typical computer screen is 300cd per square meter); the system can provide a pair of light sources to further increase the luminous efficiency to 124lm/W. At present, even with a light source with a brightness of 5000 cd per square meter, scientists have only achieved a luminous efficiency of 74 lm/W. The above results were achieved using Novaled's PIN doping technique.

Novaled said that the next problem to be overcome is the service life problem, and the other challenge is to enter mass production. For this, Novaled hopes that the commercial mass production of OLED lamps is expected to be between 2009 and 2010.

Unlike other illumination sources, OLED luminaires can be fabricated in a variety of shapes, often in the form of large thin plates in a 2D plane.
