Spotlights are widely used in shopping malls or in the home to illuminate specific targets. The spotlight was originally made of halogen, and it uses a MR16 socket that has become standard. Since the luminous efficiency of a halogen lamp is very low like that of an incandescent lamp, and its lifetime is only about 2,000 hours, it is expected to be replaced by an LED. The most popular MR16 LED spotlight on the market today is 3x1W. The purpose of using MR16 is to replace the original halogen lamp, as long as the insertion is removed. However, the power of a halogen lamp is usually 50W, the maximum power of a quartz halogen lamp can reach 100W, and the minimum power of a 12V halogen lamp is also above 10W. Although the halogen lamp has a low luminous efficiency, it is not a problem to replace the 10W halogen lamp with a 3W LED. However, it is obviously impossible to replace the 50W or 100W halogen lamp with a 3W LED. The existing MR16 socket often has a 50W electronic transformer, which is a waste if only 3W is used. Therefore, if you can replace the 50W halogen spotlight with a 10W LED spotlight, it can greatly improve the brightness of the original 10W halogen spotlight.
To this end, Shanghai Longmao Company specially developed a 3x3W MR16 high power LED spotlight SLM3316, its shape photo is shown below.
This high-power LED spotlight uses Cree's efficient 3W white LED. There are two kinds of color temperature, SLM3316-CW is bright white, the color temperature is about 5,800K-6,300K, and the total lumens is 450lm. The other is a warm white SLM3316-WW with a color temperature of 2,700K-2,900K and a total lumens of 400 lm. This high-power LED spotlight is driven by our company's step-down constant current source SLM2862J. This constant current drive source can drive three 3W LEDs at 12V and six 3W LEDs at 24V. However, because this spotlight has only three 3 watt LEDs, it is a bit overkill. Since the forward voltage of this 3 watt LED is around 3.5V, it will reach 10.5V after three series connections. Therefore, when the power supply is 12VAC or DC, the LED current can only reach about 500mA. At 24VAC or DC, it can reach 700mA.
The entire spotlight is made of an aluminum alloy casing, which has good heat dissipation performance, which also extends the life of the LED and reduces the degree of light decay. Its angle of incidence is 50 degrees, which can concentrate well on the target.
The spotlight is now in volume production.
