NXP and Microsoft team up to demonstrate secure Internet of Things solutions at CES 2017

Las Vegas, Nevada, USA - January 4, 2017 - NXP Semiconductors (Nasdaq: NXPI) today launched an end-to-end solution project with Microsoft Azure IoT Hub to protect the Internet of Things Security. Developed by NXP and Microsoft, the project was demonstrated at CES 2017, combining best software and hardware security with voice control, self-learning algorithms, and other applications for smart homes, connected cars and smart connected equipment.

Steve Owen, executive vice president of global sales and marketing at NXP Semiconductors, said: "In today's networked world, effective security must protect user data and privacy. We want to connect NXP's connected devices. Security solutions, such as BlueBox for autonomous driving and smart home modular IoT gateways, seamlessly integrate with Microsoft's trusted cloud services and advanced self-learning algorithms."

Sabine Bendiek, regional vice president of Microsoft Germany, said: "In the era of digital transformation, connecting services and devices through smart and secure methods is a major competitive advantage. We combine trusted cloud services with advanced hardware to enable customers to build innovation. Safe Internet of Things solutions to boost their business."

With the rapid development of the Internet of Things and the rapid increase in the number of connected devices, security has become the top priority. A secure end-to-end solution provides a higher level of security for a safer, smarter world.

End-to-end solutions protect the security of smart homes, buildings and equipment

NXP's smart home and building modular IoT gateway platform is designed to integrate leading speech recognition engines, such as the Microsoft Azure IoT Hub, to enhance the user experience through voice control. With one-button NFC debugging, NXP Gateway enables easy installation and connectivity of IoT devices and supports a variety of different IoT network standards, including ZigBee 3.0, Thread and BLE. To further enhance the intelligence of conventional edge devices such as smoke detectors and fire alarms, NXP SoundDetector technology enables simple integration of voice recognition functions, while NXP LifeVibes SpeechAssist technology enhances voice control in noisy environments.

Show secure vehicle data connection to the cloud

In order to achieve safe and efficient autonomous driving, vehicles need to establish a reliable, fast and secure connection with the cloud. NXP can transmit vehicle and sensor data from the BlueBox onboard sensor fusion platform to Azure for secure post processing in the cloud. In the future, traffic and vehicle data can be intelligently combined with information from other vehicles and processed in the cloud using self-learning algorithms to provide scalable, intelligent and convenient transportation services.
