Calling with HoloLens: Microsoft demonstrated that, this company did it like this

Star Wars Holographic Transmission Conference Scene

In the movie "Star Wars," a group of Jedi Knights can sit together in a holographic (h oloportation) way even if they are not in the same room. This is a futuristic scenario imagined by science fiction movies.

In March of this year, Microsoft demonstrated its true holographic transmission with its own "black technology" product, HoloLens, which virtually transformed the future of "Star Wars" into reality. It is only that you need to wear a helmet to see the hologram.

On August 31st, due to the great interest in AR/VR communications, a domestic letter of communication products revealed to the media a demo for the use of HoloLens for communication.

Live Demo

With HoloLens talking to the computer, the computer sees the screen as in the picture below. Because HoloLens uses SLAM technology to scan indoor scenes in real time, when a user draws something in a real-time scene, like the “S” in the figure below, it is the one who can stay on because HoloLens knows the location of the object.

However, the company also stressed that “the projection shots are the ones seen by the party, not the images in Hololens”. Because HoloLens has a limited field of view (only 30 degrees), you obviously cannot see the entire picture.

There is a demo for this demo. The basic functions include 3D callout gestures, Gaze, and voice. The user's real-time dynamics can be received by the other party and immediate feedback can be provided. (Note: Gaze refers to the use of sight to choose the target.)

At the demonstration site, there was an interruption. The official explanation explained that it was because of the distance from the router. Because such calls require the transmission of large amounts of data, the quality of the network is very important.

In addition, according to the scene, only the conversation between HoloLens and the computer was demonstrated. For the conversation between HoloLens, the letter was introduced.

At this stage, Hololens and Hololens' video calls cannot be realized from Microsoft's official open API for unity. Specifically, the video capture method of the unity version of Microsoft's official Hololens development document is incomplete, and there is no direct support for the acquisition or transmission of MR Capture. Third-party video-related plug-ins are not compatible with Hollolens. Only when Microsoft completes AP I further will it be possible to achieve better results. At this stage we have also been communicating with the Microsoft team.

The demo of this letter does not appear to be as cool as Microsoft's demo, but the company stated that it will continue to invest in different VR and AR platforms, and holographic conversation is also one of the focuses of its research and try.

In the video released by Microsoft, it can be seen that both sides of the chat are like being sent to the front and conducting a real face-to-face chat, and every smile can be perceived and responded. However, because the hardware and technology are still being matured, there are still many roads to go in the real business of holographic telephony.

Press Brake Protection

BLPS laser safety protective device is designed for personal safety used on hydraulic bender.
The dynamic test technology it used has passed the Type 4 functional safety assessment by TUV, and get the national invention patent. The product reaches the advanced technological level of similar products.
BLPS laser safety device provides protection zone near the die tip of the bender to protect fingers and arms of the operator in close to the upper mold die tip. It is the most effective solution so far to preserves the safety and productivity of the bender.
