
The International Semiconductor Equipment and Materials Association (SEMI), an international industry association that provides production supply chain services for the microelectronics, flat panel display and photovoltaic industries, announced that the global semiconductor manufacturing equipment shipments for the second quarter of 2011 amounted to US$11.92 billion. Compared with the first quarter of 2011, it decreased by 1%, compared with 31% in the same period of last year. This data was obtained by SEMI in collaboration with the Japan Semiconductor Equipment Association (SEAJ) to collect monthly data from 100 global equipment companies.
In the second quarter of 2011, global semiconductor equipment orders reached 10.76 billion U.S. dollars. This figure decreased by 8% compared with the same period of last year, which is a decrease of 3% compared with the number of orders in the first quarter of 2011.
