Thor Trucks Launches ET-One Electric Truck to Challenge Tesla Semi Truck

The Tesla supply chain has been formed. The super factory produces half of the world's lithium batteries in one year, and is constantly introducing new new energy vehicles. It is reported that Tesla accepted the largest order since the reservation, and the future is limitless.

For Tesla, the company's biggest news this year is the official announcement of the Tesla electric truck Semi. Tesla CEO Elon Musk announced at the press conference that the truck will have a maximum cruising range of 500 miles (about 804 km), a maximum carrying capacity of 36.29 tons, and 0-96km under no-load conditions. /h acceleration takes only 5 seconds. If all goes well, Semi may be officially put into production in 2019.

However, although Semi has not yet entered the mass production stage, this model seems to have encountered some challenges. Because a Los Angeles-based startup, Thor Trucks, has designed a design sketch for its all-electric semi-trailer truck and hopes to deliver some of its original corporate customers to Tesla Semi.

Thor Trucks Launches ET-One Electric Truck to Challenge Tesla Semi Truck

Thor Trucks' current electric truck prototype is called "ET-One". The prototype is similar in design to Optimus Prime in Transformers and is expected to be available in 2019. ThorTrucks said that the future "ET-One" will reach 300 miles (about 482 kilometers), with a maximum load capacity of 40 tons, and will be equipped with a powertrain system with a horsepower of 300-700 horsepower. It is $150,000.

Moreover, the average maintenance cost per kilometer of "ET-One" is only 40% of that of conventional diesel trucks, and the fuel consumption cost is only 30% of the latter.

According to outside analysis, Tesla has become the biggest player in the field of electric trucks. Therefore, Thor Trucks, which has relatively weak capital and technology, cannot compete with it in the short term. In this regard, Thor Trucks also said that it will not introduce an automatic driving system for the time being, and hopes to cooperate with more car companies to achieve win-win cooperation in a cooperative rather than competitive manner.

Indeed, there is still a long way to go before Thor Trucks' electric trucks want to compete directly with Tesla Semi. Because although Semi has not yet entered the mass production stage, with the celebrity effect of Musk and the deep technical research and development strength of Tesla, more and more companies have made a reservation for this model.

Earlier this month, Budweiser's parent company Anheuser-Busch and Sisko announced the order for Tesla's electric trucks. Among them, beer industry giant Anheuser-Busch has pre-purchased 40 electric trucks to Tesla, but the specific models are still unknown. Sisko ordered 50 electric trucks, although this number is not worth mentioning in the strong lineup of its 7,000 trucks, but it is part of the company's goal of reducing its environmental impact.

Just yesterday, Tesla Semi just ushered in the largest order since its opening. Carneel, senior director of supply chain for the North American region of Frito-Lay, confirmed to Reuters on December 12 that local time, PepsiCo has ordered 100 Semi electric trucks from Tesla this week.

Pepsi plans to deploy these pure electric semi-trailers between food production plants and distribution facilities, and if these trucks can indeed travel 800 kilometers as Musk said, the company will also consider direct responsibility for the radius of 800 kilometers. Retailers within the scope of the distribution of snacks and beverages.
