Infineon's TLD5098 is an LED boost controller with built-in protection features that can adjust constant LED current to ensure LED color accuracy and long life. The device has multiple configurations such as boost, buck, drop-boost, SPEIC and flyback, etc. Input voltage from 4.5V to 45V, switching frequency from 100 kHz to 500 kHz, with a variety of protection features, mainly used in automotive interior and exterior lighting. The TLD5098EL is a LED boost controller with built in protecTIon features. The constant current regulaTIon is often beneficial for LED color accuracy and longer lifetime.

The controller concept of the TLD5098EL allows multiple configurations such as Boost, Buck, Buck-Boost, SEPIC andFlyback by must adjusting the external components. The TLD5098EL offers the most flexible dimming options. Dimmingcan be achieved with analog or PWM input.The switching frequency is The TLD5098EL features an enable function reducing the shut-down current consumption to Iq_OFF< 10 μA. The current mode regulation scheme of this device provides a stable regulation loop maintained in the range of 100 kHz to 500 kHz and can be synchronized to an external clock source. This integrated soft start feature limits the current peak aswell as voltage overshoot at start-up. This IC is suited for use in the harsh automotive environments and provides output overvoltage protection, device overtemperature shutdown and short circuit to GND protection.

LITIXTM Power TLD5098EL Application Board

The size of the application boards is 4.5 cm x 4 cm and the connections to the power supply and external load can be established with cables.

The application boards in combination with real loads enable fast and realistic application prototyping and could be very beneficial for constructing initial system demonstrators.

The layout of these boards is optimized for EMC and can be reused for customer applications.
