iPad shipments for the next year or 100 million iPad mini 50%

Recently, David Hsieh, from Display Search Research, said in an interview that due to the growing market demand for the iPad mini, ipad shipments will reach 100 million units next year.

In the first three quarters of this year, iPad’s channel-oriented sales reached 42.8 million units, which is expected to reach 26 million units in the current quarter. If Apple can achieve the current quarter's goal, then this year's iPad shipments will reach 68.8 million units.

David Xie estimated that in 2012, panel suppliers provided 70 million 9.7-inch iPad panels to Apple, including 23 million iPad 2 panels and 47 million third- and fourth-generation iPad panels. He also predicted that by the end of this year, panel suppliers will provide Apple with 13.6 million iPad mini panels.

David Xie predicts that iPad sales will set a new record again next year. He said on the DisplaySearch blog: "In 2013, Apple is likely to adjust its product portfolio to meet the strong demand for the iPad mini. We believe that Apple's 2013 iPad shipment target is 100 million units, half of which is iPad mini. 40 million units are the latest iPads and 10 million are iPad 2. Production will continue until mid-2013."

DisplaySearch predicts that the global total tablet shipments will exceed 170 million units next year, while Apple's iPad will account for 60% of the market.
