Diodes Incorporated has introduced the AH5772 and AH5773, a single-in-one, single-phase 12V fan motor driver for low- to medium-voltage brushless DC fan control of consumer products, household appliances, industrial and office equipment. Two highly integrated fan drivers provide miniaturized package selection and thermal processing capabilities, which can reduce the number of components and reduce the size of the printed circuit board, thereby saving space.
The new device integrates a high-sensitivity Hall sensor and a pair of input amplifiers, which can be used with a fan motor magnet with weaker magnetic field strength, which is more effective in cost reduction. The sensor's ideal voltage and thermal coefficient over a very wide operating range, combined with very small tolerances, help stabilize motor performance and simplify manufacturing and test procedures.
AH5773
Two compact motor drivers feature a low on-resistance H-bridge output stage that supports up to 500mA continuous drain and sink current at 1A peak to match the performance of larger, more complex drivers and pre-drivers . The device offers a choice of ultra-thin packages with a small number of pins, including the MSOP8-EP and U-DFN2020-6 packages for the AH5773 and the TO-94 package for the AH5772.
The new fan driver offers a wide operating voltage range from 2.4V to 18V, and the low start-up voltage allows the fan to operate at 20% lower than the 12V rated voltage, making it suitable for a variety of brushless DC cooling fan applications. The device's operating temperature range is -40oC to 105oC, which allows it to meet the stringent temperature requirements of the application.
These two drives regulate fan speed through voltage input control. The AH5773 also provides more accurate speed control by changing the duty cycle of a series of PWM signals applied to a dedicated pulse width modulation (PWM) input. When the AH5773's PWM pin is pulled low for more than 65ms, the device enters standby mode, typically consuming only 100μA. If the PWM pin is pulled high, the driver output will restart. This quick start function can be used when the rotor is locked in a protected state to restart the fan motor before the lockout time expires.
In order to prevent overheating or damage of the fan motor coils, the two fan drives include a rotor stall protection function that shuts off the drive output when a rotor stall is detected and the drive automatically restarts after the rotor is unlocked. The device internally handles lock detection, shutdown, and auto-restart times without the need for an external timing capacitor.
The AH5772 and AH5773 also integrate comprehensive protection functions such as overvoltage protection. When an overvoltage condition is detected, the device is turned off and then enters standby mode to prevent the motor coil from being stressed. The over-temperature shutdown feature effectively protects the device's temperature.

Lithium iron batteries have revolutionized the solar street lighting industry, providing a reliable source of energy that is environmentally friendly and cost-effective. These batteries are rechargeable and designed to efficiently store and release energy, making them an ideal solution for powering solar LED street lights. Compared to traditional lead-acid batteries, lithium batteries have a longer lifespan and are much lighter in weight. This makes them a great choice for solar street lights, where weight and space are often at a premium. Additionally, lithium batteries can operate in extreme temperatures, from -20°C to 60°C, making them suitable for all kinds of environments.
