Uchida announced that it has developed the first direct-piped LED Lighting for use in an MRI (magnetic resonance) examination room and will begin sales. "The new product solves the constant heat problem, low power consumption, and emits bright white light, making it easy for patients to be examined with confidence" (Nyota Uchida). Compared with the halogen lamp originally used in the MRI examination room, the power consumption can be reduced by 70%, and the illumination can be increased by 2 times.
In the past, halogen lamps were mostly used for illumination in MRI examination rooms. The reason is that the noise emitted by the fluorescent ballast affects the MRI device. However, halogen lamps have problems such as easy heat generation and high power consumption. Therefore, the MRI examination room "has always wanted a bright light source that emits white light" (Uchida Maeda).
Ordinary LED lighting products generally design the power supply part and the lamp as one body, and the listed LED lighting separates the power supply part from the appliance, and the power supply part is set outside the inspection room. This minimizes the effect of noise on the MRI examination room. According to another report, lamps use non-magnetic materials and can be used with ease in places with strong magnetic fields.
The color temperature of the listed LED lighting is 3000K (light bulb color), 4000K (white color), 5000K (white color), and can be selected according to the atmosphere of the room. It is equipped with a general-purpose 24W power supply and a 20W energy-saving product line. Uchida’s goal is to accumulatively sell 5,000 units by 2015. The price is open.
