On September 7, Volvo teamed up with Swedish car seat belt and airbag supplier Autoliv to develop driverless software and sell the results to other car manufacturers. This cooperation also opened the first place for automakers to work with “first-tier†suppliers to develop driverless car technology.
Through this cooperation, Volvo and Meian will transfer their driverless car software development and intellectual property to a joint venture established by both parties. The joint venture will initially employ 200 people (both from Volvo and Mei'an) and is expected to increase to more than 600 in the future. The headquarters of the new joint venture will be located at Volvo's R&D headquarters in Gothenburg, Sweden.
So far, most automakers have maintained the habit of independently developing driverless car technology and kept these technologies secret. However, Volvo will provide its own driverless car technology to other car manufacturers through a new joint venture, and the proceeds will be shared between Volvo and Mei'an.
Through cooperation, both Volvo and Meian will transfer their driverless car intellectual property to a new joint venture, and Mein will serve as the exclusive supplier of all R&D technologies to supply these technologies to external companies. (And Volvo will be able to purchase these technologies directly from the joint venture).
Volvo has a reputation for R&D and innovative safety technologies, and the company will supply these technologies to other car manufacturers. Perhaps Volvo still believes that driverlessness is an important safety feature and is willing to give up the competitive advantage that the technology brings to itself. Of course, unlike the Volvo three-point seat belt, this driverless car technology is not free for other car manufacturers.
The cable Glands is also called the cable head. After the cable is laid, in order to make it a continuous line, each section of the line must be connected as a whole, and these connection points are called Plastic Cable Glands. The Nylon Cable Gland in the middle of the cable line are called intermediate joints, and the PA cable glands at both ends of the line are called terminal heads. The Cable Glands is used to lock and fix the incoming and outgoing lines, and play the role of waterproof, dustproof and shockproof.
Its main function is to make the line unobstructed, keep the cable sealed, and ensure the insulation level of the Cable Glands, so that it can run safely and reliably. If the seal is not good, not only will the oil leak and cause the oil-impregnated paper to dry up, but also moisture will invade the inside of the cable, reducing its insulation performance.
