Littelfuse , a global leader in circuit protection, today announced the SP1012 family of TVS diode arrays ( SPATM diodes). This small, 5-channel 6.5pF, 15kV bidirectional TVS array is designed for general purpose electrostatic discharge (ESD) protection. The SP1012 series houses five ESD diodes in a 0402-size (0.94 mm x 0.61 mm) flip-chip package that typically accommodates only one diode and provides five times more space than before. 
The SP1012 series accommodates the most ESD diodes in less than 1 square millimeter of package space, helping circuit designers reduce cost and save printed circuit board (PCB) space. This powerful diode safely absorbs repetitive ESD discharges at the highest level specified by the IEC61000-4-2 international standard without degrading performance. Bidirectional configuration provides symmetric ESD protection for the data line when there is an ac signal. The SP1012 series is ideal for protecting data lines on capacitive touch screen flexible PCBs. Applications include ESD protection for device interfaces such as wearable technology, smartphones, mobile phones, touch screen controllers, and SIM cards.

The SP1012 series of TVS diode arrays have the following key benefits:
• Five back-to-back ESD protection diodes are housed in less than one SOD-882 (ie 1.0 x 0.6 mm) board space, saving up to five times the space compared to previous designs, saving PCB footprint and cost.
• Industry-leading ESD protection with greater than ±15kV protection and compliance with IEC61000-4-2 (contact) standards, providing engineers with higher end product reliability.
The extremely low dynamic resistance of 0.48? supports the low clamping voltage required to protect modern electronic devices.
• ESD devices share terminal contacts for a more flexible ground terminal selection.
The 6V rated off-state voltage protects 95% of current and future user interfaces.
