PureLiFi, co-founded by University of Edinburgh professor Harald Haas, launched its third-generation LiFi product, called LiFi-X, at this week's Mobile World Congress 2016.
LiFi technology pioneered the 5G era with the goal of promoting the development of the Internet of Things and providing secure wireless communications for Industrial 4.0 applications.
The LiFi-X comes with an access point that can be connected to any led luminaire and a business card sized adapter that can be connected to a mobile device via a USB 2.0 interface. LiFi offers an unparalleled user experience compared to wireless technologies such as existing WiFi.
LiFi allows dense 5G and beyond indoor and outdoor wireless networks, and will provide mobile users with 100 times higher data transfer rates in the future. The recent development of pureLiFi products is integrated into smart devices and smart homes through LiFi microchips.
PureLiFi CEO Harald Burchardt said: "LiFi technology is the key to future wireless communications.
