Qorvo, Inc. (Nasdaq: QRVO) today announced that its multi-stack, multi-protocol GP712 system-on-chip has been applied to the new ZigBee®-based HUMAX Chorus voice assistant. This combination can integrate gateways, sensor devices, cloud platforms and mobile applications, bringing operators a full suite of smart home systems that drive the development of the Internet of Things (IoT).
Voice Assistant has promoted the growth of the smart home market. According to Gartner's report, by 2021, global end-user consumption of the wireless speaker market supporting virtual private assistants (VPA) is expected to increase from $720 million in 2016 to $3.52 billion.
The GP712 supports ZigBee and Thread in different RF channels, enabling designers to use a single transceiver for multiple gateway products to serve both protocols simultaneously. This will prevent the gateway device from being eliminated due to the upgrade of the protocol standard. The GP712 also features Qorvo's best-in-class operating range and low power consumption, and uses reliable RF technology that limits interference.
The GP712 is not only the first ZigBee 3.0 compliant platform, but also the industry's first multi-channel IoT transceiver to receive Thread protocol certification.
